On February 5, 2025, Antidia CITORES, General Manager of Green Marine Europe, took part in the launch conference of the SEArica Intergroup at the European Parliament, chaired by Christophe Clergeau, Member of the European Parliament and President of SEArica.
Organised in partnership with the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) – a supporter of Green Marine Europe – this event marked a key milestone in the co-construction of the future European Pact for the Ocean, as announced by the European Commission.
Climate change, marine pollution, biodiversity loss... The ocean is on the front line. In the face of these challenges, protecting and conserving marine environments must become a priority on the European agenda.
This European Pact paves the way for more ambitious collective action, bringing together institutions, territories, businesses, NGOs, and citizens.
At Green Marine Europe, we firmly believe that an ambitious Pact cannot be achieved without the strong involvement of economic stakeholders.
As a key player in global trade, the maritime transport sector has a strategic role in the ecological transition. That is why we promote a rigorous and evolving environmental certification model designed to encourage the entire maritime industry to go beyond regulatory compliance.
We aim to accelerate the transition toward a more responsible maritime industry, aligned with significant international commitments — particularly in the lead-up to the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), which will take place in Nice in June 2025.
The members of Green Marine Europe — certified participants, associations, partners, and supporters — are leading the way. Together, they are building a broad community of stakeholders committed to a comprehensive and sustainable transformation of the maritime ecosystem.
