Certification
The Green Marine Europe environmental certification program offers a comprehensive framework for maritime companies to benchmark and then reduce their environmental footprint.
Through its 11 performance indicators, the comprehensive program addresses prioritized environmental issues related to air, water and soil quality, as well as community relations.
To obtain their certification, Green Marine Europe participants must demonstrate continual and measurable improvement, year after year, and respect all elements of the certification process, i.e., the annual self-evaluation, external verification, and publication of results.
Certification process
The certification process is rigorous and transparent. It requires participants to commit to continual improvement.
Performance indicators
The 11 performance indicators target key issues, and their criteria are distributed on a 1-to-5 scale.
External verification
To obtain Green Marine Europe certification, a participant must undergo an external verification every two years.
Results
Participants’ results with certification status are also published in Green Marine Europe’s Annual Report and website.
