Since its inception in 2020, the Green Marine Europe environmental program is aimed at all types of ship owners, whether they are cargo ships (bulk carriers, self-unloading ships, container ships, oil tankers), passenger ships, scientific exploration vessels, tugs or barges. As of the fall of 2023, Green Marine Europe also encompasses shipyards within its membership.
To obtain certification, participants must comply with several requirements, including assessing their environmental performance on a scale of 1 to 5 under the environmental program’s detailed framework and external verification of the results.
