SPM Ferries, the shipping company of the Territorial Collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, is a participant for Green Marine Europe certification.
With its 2 ROPAX vessels, the company offers 360 rotations between Saint Pierre and Miquelon and 220 rotations between Saint-Pierre and Fortune, Newfoundland. The company significantly contributes to opening up the archipelago by sea by transporting passengers, vehicles, and freight. SPM Ferries also operates 250 round trips between Saint-Pierre and Langlade during summer, using a 19m passenger catamaran.
Promoting inter-island exchanges as part of its public service mission, SPM Ferries contributes to the socio-economic development of the islands and participates in the Collectivité's tourism strategy, thanks to its international service.
Its participation in Green Marine Europe is motivated by several factors:
Promoting waste sorting on board its ships, with the dual aim of encouraging recycling and a circular economy, monitoring its fuel consumption to reduce emissions, and raising passenger awareness of environmental protection are just some of SPM Ferries' commitments. The company also implements the environmental education policy of the Territorial Collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon.
