Green Marine Europe (GME) is seeking a Program Coordinator to support the development of its environmental certification program, particularly for European ports.
As part of an international team of approximately a dozen people – including three based in Europe – all driven by a commitment to engagement and collaboration, and supported by a network of nearly 100 participants and partners from across the European maritime value chain, the successful candidate will play an active role in developing the program and supporting its participants through the certification process.
The coordinator will specifically help to develop and implement Green Marine Europe’s port standards, support membership growth, and contribute to strategic projects related to the program.
Ideally based in Bordeaux, but with the possibility of working from other locations within France depending on the candidate’s profile, the Program Coordinator will collaborate with a European network of maritime stakeholders – including ports, ship owners, shipyards, research centres, and public institutions – and contribute to several key initiatives, including European research and innovation projects.

This position is intended for a candidate with some experience in project management within maritime transportation, sustainability, or a related field. A solid understanding of environmental issues within the maritime sector, particularly those addressed by the Green Marine Europe program, is required.
The candidate holds a relevant university degree (e.g., in ecological transition, maritime law, or environmental law) and has a strong interest in port-related issues and their transition. Familiarity with port regions and networks is a plus.
With strong interpersonal skills, the candidate is at ease facilitating meetings, leading collaborative efforts, and coordinating with a diverse range of stakeholders.
An interest in project management, particularly within a European context, is expected. Knowledge of or an interest in the maritime sector, sustainability, or related fields is a plus. An interest in environmental issues, particularly those addressed by the Green Marine Europe program, is essential. Fluency in French and English is required. Knowledge of a third European language is strongly preferred.
Commencing September 1, 2026, the position involves a combination of remote and in-office work, with occasional travel within Europe and internationally. A strong presence in Nouvelle-Aquitaine is preferred to provide specific support in that region.
