Green Marine Europe at the 7th Blue Economy Meetings

January 23, 2025

On January 23rd, our General Manager, Antidia CITORES, spoke at the 7th Blue Economy Meetings organized by the think tank e5t (Energy, Energy Efficiency, Economy, Environment and Territories), held at the French Maritime Academy (ENSM) in Le Havre.

This edition highlighted the strategic role of maritime and inland waterways in decarbonising territories.

Ports, rivers and seas at the heart of sustainable development

Antidia CITORES took part in the session entitled “Seas, rivers and ports: drivers of sustainable territorial development,” which brought together around fifty participants from the maritime, port and energy sectors.

During her intervention, she presented the Green Marine Europe environmental certification program and the CirclesOfLife European project, which is currently developing:

  • The Shipyard Environmental Performance Index (SEPI)
  • The Ship Lifecycle Passport (SLP), designed to track and improve the lifecycle sustainability of ships.

These tools aim to promote a systemic approach to the maritime industry’s environmental transition, based on concrete and harmonized indicators at the European level.

A collective and systemic maritime transition

The discussions also shed light on other key levers for accelerating the transformation of coastal and port territories:

  • The transformation dynamics of port cities, notably presented by Marine Hamelin (BLUMORPHO),
  • The crucial role and influence of freight shippers, highlighted by Jean-Michel Garcia (AUTF – Association of Freight Transport Users),
  • The importance of collective commitment and cross-sectoral approaches to align economic performance with environmental transition.
