GMI welcomes eDNAtec, a new partner in environmental genomics

Green Marine International is pleased to welcome eDNAtec Inc. to its growing network of partners dedicated to advancing sustainability in the maritime industry. Specializing in environmental genomics, eDNAtec is dedicated to advancing environmental stewardship by analyzing biodiversity and ecological health across all offshore, onshore, and terrestrial ecosystems.

eDNAtec collects water, soil, sediment, or air samples to analyze the DNA shed by organisms into the environment. Known as environmental DNA (eDNA), this technique delivers a more comprehensive biodiversity assessment than traditional methods, which are often limited and not easily scalable. For instance, in just one litre of water, eDNA analysis can detect traces from thousands of species, from microscopic bacteria to marine mammals.

At the forefront of biodiversity intelligence, eDNAtec has developed an ISO-certified, AI-powered genomic data platform that enables industries to measure and report nature impacts at scale. Building on this foundation, the company supports clients across energy, aquaculture, and fisheries in implementing validated eDNA programs. These programs are already being adopted by organizations such as ExxonMobil, Shell, TotalEnergies, Mowi, Fugro, and Stantec.
