Call for Expressions of Interest - External Verifiers

Green Marine International is expanding its pool of external verifiers for its environmental certifications programs: Green Marine and Green Marine Europe.

Are you an experienced environmental or maritime auditor with a deep understanding of the maritime industry and want to be actively involved in reducing the sector’s environmental footprint? Join our pool of accredited external verifiers and leverage your expertise to support Green Marine International’s (GMI) environmental certification programs.

Current Verifier Needs

GMI is looking to fill gaps in coverage as follows:

Getting started

✅ Understand the verifier's role

Accredited external verifiers independently assess participant self-evaluations through document review, interviews and on-site verification activities to confirm conformance with Green Marine International's performance indicators. Participants are shipowners, ports & Seaway/waterways, terminal operators, and shipyards.

 

✅ Check eligibility

Review our Verifier Handbook [in French/en français: Manuel du vérificateur) and ensure that you meet the minimum qualifications and competencies (see Section 2).

✅ Familiarize yourself with Green Marine International

 Study GMI’s comprehensive environmental certification programs, which provide a structured framework for advancing environmental excellence across the maritime sector. We recommend that you take time to look around the website and, in particular, review the latest Performance Indicator summaries (GM/GME) per participant type and Annual Performance Report (GM/GME) in detail.

Application process

Express your interest in becoming a GMI-accredited verifier by completing this application form below. Your application will be reviewed by our team to determine alignment with our criteria and program needs.

 

✅ Training and accreditation

Selected candidates will be invited to participate in our virtual Upon completion of the training session, candidates must complete and pass a written exam. The annual accreditation session for all verifiers is typically held in January.

 

 

 

✅Fees

If selected, please note the following fees associated with the initial accreditation and annual renewal. These fees cover administration, training materials and accreditation activities. For initial accreditation, an invoice will be sent along with your invitation and must be paid prior to attending the initial training.

We value every application and want to transparently convey that not all applicants may be selected for training at this time.
